10 best hero skins in Star Wars Battlefront 2

1 month ago 2

Launched in late 2017 amid massive controversy over its loot-box microtransactions, DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront II had a rocky debut. A Reddit uproar and global outcry forced EA to pull its pay-to-win system and later reboot the game into a much better experience. In 2025, the shooter has enjoyed a surprise resurgence and even managed to break its concurrent player records on Steam.

The community is once again celebrating the game’s rich content and fun gameplay, including its once-hated hero customization system. So, whether you've been playing since day one or are jumping into the battlefront for the first time, here are the top 10 hero skins every fan should try to unlock.

How Skins Work in Battlefront II

There are over 170 hero skins in Star Wars Battlefront II, ranging from screen-accurate movie cameos to some original designs. Some skins are granted automatically after updates, while others remain locked behind milestones or were exclusive to pre-orders. If you're just starting, then you can unlock skins in one of three ways:

  • Owning the Celebration Edition: Unlocks nearly all skins instantly.
  • Earning milestone rewards: A handful of skins must be earned by completing in-game challenges.
  • Buying credits or crystals: If you own the base game, you’ll need to buy skins using credits (earned through gameplay) or crystals (premium currency).

Ranking every Star Wars Battlefront game: The best in the series

The Star Wars Battlefront series is very popular among Star Wars fans. Let's rank every entry of the series. What are the best Battlefront games?

10 Han Solo - Corellia Escape

A young Han Solo on the run

This Legendary skin shows Han Solo as a scrappy outlaw during his escape from Corellia in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Wearing gang clothes with a makeshift blaster holster, the outfit captures his early rogue persona perfectly. It was released during the Han Solo Season and serves as a visual origin point for the iconic smuggler. For longtime fans of the character, it’s one of only two skins that depict Solo as his younger self. Unlockable through credits, crystals, or included in the Celebration Edition, Corellia Escape is one of Han's best looks and a favorite among film purists.

9 Luke Skywalker - Farmboy

A New Hope for the galaxy

The “Farmboy” skin brings us Luke Skywalker in his Tatooine attire from A New Hope. This look is especially nostalgic for fans of the original trilogy and is the only Luke Skywalker skin without a scar on his face. You can’t purchase this skin; you can only unlock it by completing the “It’s Not Impossible” milestone, which requires defeating 5,000 enemies as a Light Side hero. That grind makes it a badge of honor for dedicated players. Bragging rights, combined with its legacy status, make this the most iconic Luke Skywalker skin in the game.

8 Obi-Wan Kenobi - General Kenobi

Obi-Wan’s Iconic Clone Wars armor

Based on his appearance in The Clone Wars, the “General Kenobi” skin depicts Obi-Wan Kenobi with Clone Trooper armor. The look is a fan-favorite because it captures the exact style of the animated series, offering a bridge between the Jedi Order and the Republic military. It's available for purchase with in-game currency or as part of the Celebration Edition. With its unique silhouette and lore-friendly aesthetic, General Kenobi remains the most iconic Obi-Wan skin.

7 Lando Calrissian - Professional "Sportsman"

A Solo-era throwback with flair

The Professional “Sportsman" skin brings Lando’s flashiest Solo-era outfit to the front lines. It’s the black-and-yellow jumpsuit seen when he first enters the Millennium Falcon in Solo: A Star Wars Story. This Legendary skin was originally tied to a Han Solo Season event but is now unlockable via credits or included in the Celebration Edition. The headband, swagger, and color scheme make this one of the most visually unique skins in the entire game, perfect for the character known for his style over subtlety.

6 Darth Maul - Old Master

Become the master

Old Master shows a far older and battle-worn Darth Maul, drawing directly from Star Wars Rebels. This Legendary skin is a chilling reminder of his long life and obsession with vengeance through the movies and series. Similar to the Luke Skywalker (Farmboy) skin, it can’t be bought outright. You’ll need to complete “The Chosen One” milestone by eliminating 5,000 enemies as a Dark Side hero. This skin gives dedicated Dark Side players bragging rights, making Old Master one of the best Dark Side skins in the game.

5 Count Dooku - Dark Ritual

It’s better than exquisite pajamas

Taken from The Clone Wars, this Epic skin shows Dooku in ceremonial Sith robes. The sharp collar, crimson lining, and arcane style suggest his hidden involvement in ancient Sith rituals, details never shown in live-action. It’s one of the few skins that make Dooku feel less like a fallen Jedi and more like a true Sith Lord. You can purchase it through the collection menu or get it with the Celebration Edition. It’s the perfect skin for players who want to showcase Dooku’s darker, more mysterious side.

4 Rey Skywalker

A Rise of the Jedi-inspired skin

This Legendary skin honors the final moments of The Rise of Skywalker, where Rey adopts the Skywalker name. She wears an outfit evocative of both Luke and Leia. Unlike most skins, this one is granted to all players after the Rise of Skywalker update and doesn’t need to be unlocked. Its cinematic importance and new lightsaber color make it one of the most popular Rey skins.

3 Emperor Palpatine - Sith Eternal

Emperor Palpatine at his strongest

Sith Eternal Palpatine gives the Emperor a darker, reborn look inspired by the Sith cult seen in The Rise of Skywalker. This skin features Palpatine in a sleek black robe with deep red lining, glowing yellow eyes. Added during the Battle on Scarif update, it’s available to all players without any unlock requirements. It's one of the most intimidating skins on the battlefield. If you're looking to play as Star Wars' ultimate villain in his most evil form, this skin is a must-have.

2 Kylo Ren - Supreme Leader

Come to the Dark Side

Supreme Leader Kylo is based on his reforged appearance in The Rise of Skywalker, complete with cracked helmet and a black-layered cloak. Unlike the free Reforged version, this Epic skin adds more detail and polish to Kylo’s late-game design. It's available via purchase or the Celebration Edition. This skin is essential for any dark-side player and is usually most players' first purchase.

1 General Grievous - Shattered Armor

The most detailed character model in the game

Shattered Armor Grievous depicts the cyborg general after suffering major damage in battle. The cracked chest plates, exposed wiring, and burnt mask reference Clone Wars moments and show him as a walking war machine. It's one of the most detailed models in Star Wars Battlefront II, and has animated fire and ash particles expelling from the model. Originally part of the Celebration Update, it’s now unlockable through purchase or with the Celebration Edition. This is the most intimidating version of Grievous and one of the most beloved skins in the entire game.

Honorable Mentions

Rey’s Jedi Training outfit and Kylo Ren’s Unmasked look are special skins worth noting. Jedi Training Rey and Unmasked Kylo Ren were pre-order/Deluxe Edition exclusives, meaning they were only given out to players who had Deluxe or pre-ordered from certain retailers. They were unlocked automatically for those early buyers and are not available through credits. Because of that exclusivity, we list them as honorable mentions: they’re cool skins but unavailable to most players now.
