3 Raspberry Pi cases that make your SBC look like a gaming rig

1 month ago 2

I have to admit, I have a huge soft spot for Raspberry Pi cases that make your SBC look like a gaming rig. I mean, you're not exactly going to be sticking the latest and greatest games on it, and you're definitely not going to be adding desktop GPUs to it. However, some of the Raspberry Pi cases are designed to look like a gaming rig and have that RGB allure that makes it hard to look away from them. Plus, they're super cute! Imagine a teeny-tiny gaming PC case you can fit in the palm of your hand. Adorable.

If you share the same love I do, then you'll be pleased to know that there are a handful of cases that really look the part. So, let's check them out.

3 The Pironmax 5 and 5-MAX

A two-for-one entry

Bundling two cases into one category, the Pironman 5 and its successor, the 5-MAX, inspired me to write this in the first place. It began a year ago when I reported on the Pironman 5, a case that makes your Raspberry Pi look like a gaming case. Just under a year later, the Pironman 5-MAX succeeded it.

The Pironman 5-MAX isn't just a pretty face, either. It actually packs a few really nice features into the case:

Unlock the full potential of your Raspberry Pi 5 with the Pironman 5-MAX — our most advanced case yet. Featuring dual NVMe M.2 slots with RAID 0/1 support, AI accelerator compatibility (e.g. Hailo-8L), a PCIe Gen2 switch, PWM tower cooling + dual RGB fans, dual transparent panels with RGB lighting, and a smart OLED display with vibration wake-up. All ports are optimized for cleaner cable management, including dual full-size HDMI and USB-C power.

If you want a Raspberry Pi case that looks the part and acts like it too, you can't go wrong with a Pironman.

2 The ElectroCookie Raspberry Pi 4 Case

A cheaper option

The Pironman cases are fantastic, but they are also a little expensive. If you're not fond of spending around $80 for a Raspberry Pi case but still want it to look cool, check out the ElectroCookie Raspberry Pi 4 Case. We actually covered it as one of our best cases for the Raspberry Pi, where it won the well-earned title of "Best look."

It may not have all the flashy extras as a Pironman, but it still has a 4000 RPM fan, a sturdy and well-made aluminum body, and those sweet, sweet RGB lights that adorn only the best gaming rig cases. Plus, the price is under half of the Pironman, making it an excellent chapter alternative.

1 3D print your own Raspberry Pi case

The true DIY option

However, if you own a Raspberry Pi, there's a very good chance you're no stranger to the concept of making things by yourself. That's where this handy 3D printable Raspberry Pi comes into play. It doesn't require a lot of components; its creator only used a Raspberry Pi 4B, an ice cube cooler, a 32GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card, M3x8mm button head screws, M3 nuts, and an optional carbon fibre fan grill. Combine this with a 3D printer and some tools, and you can make your own case from scratch.

You can check out the build and how to make your own over on the creator's page. They claim that the setup works very well for cooling down the Pi during overclocking, so this may be a fantastic option for people who want to push their Pis to the limit while also having a role in the case's construction.

Raspberry Pi cases don't need to be boring

Don't settle with a bland Raspberry Pi case. If you want something a little more unique (and a lot more RGB-ey), a gaming rig-like case is your best bet. Best of all, some of the better models add additional features like cooling and screens which is really the cherry on top.
