As a long-time Chase Sapphire Reserve owner and a big fan of both the Chase ecosystem and Apple products, its fun when my worlds collide like this. Chase just refreshed all the perks and benefits of the Sapphire Reserve card, which includes a serious perk for Apple users. Here what you need to new about the refresh.
Everything new with the Chase Sapphire Reserve
I want to give a quick overview of all the benefits for those curious, because there are many. Chase is advertising that they are giving us over $2700 worth of value on this card, but of course, this will vary per person, depending on how you use the card and its benefits/credits. Here they are:
- 8x points on all Chase Travel purchases (previously 5x)
- 4x points on flights and hotels booked directly (previously 3x)
- 3x points on dining worldwide
- New $300 Annual Dining Credit (up to $150 in statement credits biannually)
- $300 travel credit for all travel
- $500 hotel credit with The Edit collection
- New $250 annual value through a complimentary subscription to Apple TV+ and Apple Music (activation required)
- New $300 StubHub and viagogo credit (up to $150 in statement credits biannually)
- $300 DoorDash value and $120 DashPass membership (up to $25 in monthly promos)
- $120 in annual Lyft in-app credits, up to $10 monthly, and the ability to earn 5x total points on eligible Lyft rides
- Priority Pass airport lounge and Chase Sapphire Lounge access
- Complimentary IHG Platinum Elite status
Yes, this card offers many different credits and benefits, and that’s not all. These are the main ones you should consider. In theory, you can get more value from the credits compared to the new $795 annual fee. So, before applying, sit down and see if these credits outweigh the yearly fee for you.
Apple Music & Apple TV+ perk
This is the perk we want to focus on today. Sapphire Reserve gives you a $250 annual credit towards Apple TV+ and Apple Music for the first time. If you were to sign up for each service individually, it would be $10.99 per month for Apple Music and $9.99 per month for Apple TV+, making it roughly $21 per month or $252 per year. So if you subscribe and pay to these services already, this is a great way to offset that annual fee.
Once you have been approved for the card, all you have to do is activate it in the portal, and it will begin to credit you the cost, or if you aren’t signed up, it will walk you through how to sign up and also credit the cost. I wish this perk included the whole Apple One bundle, but I will take the Apple Music and Apple TV+ benefit any day of the week.
New sign-up bonus
Usually, when a new card comes out or there is a massive revamp to it, banks like to incentivize sign-ups by offering pretty crazy sign-up bonuses. This time is no different. Here is what the sign-up bonus is:
- 100,000 Chase Ultimate Reward Points
- $500 Chase travel credit to be used in the Chase portal (hotels, flights, rental cars)
- How to earn it: Spending $5,000 in the first 3 months of having the card
100,000 Chase points are enough value to buy you a MacBook Air!
Availability
The release of the new benefits is staggered. If you are applying for the card for the first time, you will get all the latest benefits starting the moment you get approved. Apply here to get the elevated sign-up bonus. If you are a current Sapphire Reserve cardholder, the new benefits won’t kick in until October 26, 2025, that is also when they will send you the latest and improved card. But if you are a current cardholder, you can call Chase and ask them to product upgrade for you, and they do that immediately, giving you access to the new physical card and all the new benefits right away (this is what I did).
Let me know what you think of this card. Are you a current cardholder? Are you considering applying? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
