Netflix recently added a new series from the creator of "Money Heist," Álex Pina — though it doesn't seem like the streaming service's new release is destined to be as big a success as that three-season crime drama. The show is the latest in the "bunker" genre — think Prime Video's "Fallout," Hulu's "Paradise," and Apple TV Plus' "Silo" — and puts a group of rich people through the wringer inside a luxury emergency shelter.
What's different about "Billionaires' Bunker," then? Well, apart from anything else, it's the fact that this new Netflix arrival hasn't been nearly as well-received as "Money Heist," or any of those other "bunker" shows. The series premiered on Friday, September 19, 2025, and has crept into Netflix's top 10 chart in the days since (though "Black Rabbit" is still out in front).
Seeing as "Billionaires' Bunker" has lingered in the top 10 for almost a week, I just decided to give Netflix's new arrival a shot, and now that I'm a couple of episodes in, I'm definitely intrigued by what I've seen so far (despite its divisive reception).
If you're considering whether to stream "Billionaires' Bunker" on Netflix yourself, here's a little more info about the new series and its reception.
What is 'Billionaires' Bunker' about?

"Billionaires' Bunker" centers, unsurprisingly, on Kimera Underground Park, an underground facility designed to provide maximum comfort to the super-rich in the event of a global catastrophe.
When disaster rears its head, the titular bunker goes into lockdown, and the facility becomes a claustrophobic, powder-keg environment wherein two families marked by their past are forced to coexist, and we see their personalities and secrets come to the fore.

Should you stream 'Billionaires' Bunker' on Netflix?
Spoiler warning!
I'm putting a spoiler warning here, simply because I can't think of any way to properly explain why I'm continuing to watch "Billionaires' Bunker" without spoiling a reveal that came in the first episode. If you want to go in blind (which you probably should), stop reading now.
Simply put, the season premiere concludes with a big twist that had me hooked. As it turns out, the end-of-the-world event that Kimera's new residents bear witness to isn't real. In reality, it's a carefully constructed illusion, one manufactured by the bunker's operations team, under the guidance of Minerva (Miren Ibarguren).
It's a big enough swing, and the panicked environment naturally shakes the residents inside to their core, and I'm certainly interested in learning more about Minerva and co's motives, and seeing how the residents will cope locked inside their new home (not well, judging by what I've seen so far).
Sure, the minute-to-minute interpersonal stuff isn't as engaging, and the script could use some work, but I think the overarching story will be intriguing enough to keep some subscribers locked in.
I say some, because the series isn't exactly universally loved, as noted above. At the time of writing, "Billionaires' Bunker" has earned a 38% critics' score (from 8 reviews) on the review aggregator, Rotten Tomatoes.
The biggest red flag I've spotted among critics' reactions so far, is simply that "Billionaires' Bunker" doesn't have the momentum to sustain itself, as signalled by Jonathon Wilson at Ready Steady Cut. In his review, he said the show comes with a "great premise that is [sic] unfortunately abandons over a too-long runtime, eventually succumbing to repetitive plotting and thrills."
Nevertheless, given where I am in the season so far, I've seen enough twists that make me want to persevere (though again, this isn't a full-season verdict). If you find these kinds of stories compelling, I'd suggest giving the series a shot; if you're intrigued by the premise and the big prestige twist, and don't mind if your dramas slip into "soap-y" territory, you just might enjoy streaming "Billionaires' Bunker" on Netflix.
