Apple announces major expansion of Tap to Pay on iPhone | iPhone-to-iPhone payment shown

Tap to Pay on iPhone, the most convenient and cost-effective way for small businesses to accept contactless payment from both mobile wallets and physical cards, has today landed in eight more countries.

Apple says this latest rollout will enable millions more businesses to use the service, with multiple payment platforms supported in each new country …

Tap to Pay on iPhone enables retailers to use their iPhone as a contactless payment terminal, with no separate mobile terminal or card reader required. First announced in 2022 with a gradual rollout in the US, it has since expanded into a growing number od countries around the world.

Apple said that Tap to Pay on iPhone is available in the following countries and payment platforms starting today:

  • Belgium: Adyen, Axepta, Mollie, myPOS, Pay.nl, Revolut, Stripe, SumUp, Viva, and Worldline.
  • Croatia: Adyen, Viva, and Worldline.
  • Cyprus: Adyen, Revolut, SumUp, Viva, and Worldline.
  • Denmark: Adyen, Mollie, Nexi, Revolut, Stripe, SumUp, Surfboard Payments, and Viva; with PayPal coming soon.
  • Greece: myPOS, Viva, and Worldline; with NBG Pay coming soon.
  • Iceland: Adyen, Rapyd, and Revolut; with Teya coming soon.
  • Luxembourg: Adyen, Mollie, Revolut, Stripe, SumUp, Viva, and Worldline.
  • Malta: Adyen, Global Payments, Revolut, SumUp, and Viva.

Tap to Pay on iPhone works with contactless credit and debit cards from leading payment networks, including American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa. Additionally, Bancontact is available with Axepta and Viva in Belgium, and Dankort is available in Denmark with Nexi and Surfboard Payments.

It follows another major expansion back in March, when the feature came to Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
