With remote and hybrid work the new norm, many of us are really thinking about leveling up our work setups outside the office. Personally, I appreciate portable devices that emulate a more ergonomic format (as opposed to being hunched over a trackpad), and that includes portable monitors like the 16-inch Asus ZenScreen

This 16-inch portable monitor adds another desktop to your computer while working remotely, and works in both a landscape or portrait orientation. It's thin and light enough to feel more like a tablet than a monitor, and comes with a smart case so it can easily be propped up.

Right now, the Asus ZenScreen is on sale during Amazon Prime Day for just $170, which is 26% off the total price. This is a very competitive price, as Asus is a leading manufacturer in this space, making devices with awesome displays on all ends of the spectrum like the ProArt P16 and the Zenbook A14 -- the latter, which earned our Editor's Choice pick.

The monitor features a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a 16:9 ratio, so it looks a lot like a standard display you'd find on any 16-inch laptop. Connecting couldn't be easier: just plug into your device via the USB-C port and you're good to go.

The monitor also derives its power from the laptop its connected to, so keep that mind if you're working on battery, as it'll draw a bit more than usual.

A unique design element of the ZenScreen is the small hole in the bottom corner for the pen (included in the box). Placing the pen there acts as a prop for the display in either orientation, great for quick access without having to fumble around with the stand.

If you travel for work and found yourself struggling in a hotel room or coffee shop with the limitations of your laptop's single display, the ZenScreen could be a game-changer, especially since it only weighs 1.7 pounds.

Programmers, in particular, will appreciate the monitor in portrait mode, but creatives will also dig the extra screen real estate, especially since it can function like a tablet with the accompanying smart pen.

As a perk, the ZenScreen also comes with three months of Adobe Creative Cloud for free with purchase, a nice add-on that could seal the deal for creative-minded folks.

How I rated this deal

I'm highlighting this deal for its simplicity. It's a good price for a simple, practical device that a lot of people will appreciate right out of the box. A portable monitor can dramatically change your work setup, especially if you're struggling with your laptop's small screen or can't spend hundreds of dollars on a new desktop monitor.
