The Trump administration’s economic plan and its so-called “big, beautiful” budget bill is not likely to create a new “Made in America” era.

How could it? Trade tariffs that raise costs on consumers, deportations that reduce labor supply in critical sectors from agriculture to construction, firing government workers, freezing grants and loans to businesses for clean energy and infrastructure projects previously approved — nothing about this economic policy makes sense.
