Summer reading lists aren't just for high schoolers and college students. It's time to bring back the summer reading list for adults. One way to cross off books from your summer reading list, even many years out of college or high school, is to make reading as convenient as humanly possible.

Sometimes that's hard to achieve, especially if you're lugging that 1,000-page Infinite Jest in a small backpack or book bag. One solution to the problem of carrying several books you'd like to read on airplanes, in long-haul car rides, or in your work bag is simple. Buy a Kindle instead.

If you're a bookworm looking to optimize your reading game this summer this Kindle Paperwhite Essentials Bundle deal is for you. The deal takes the price of the bundle, which includes a Kindle Paperwhite, a fabric cover of your choosing, and a power adapter, down by 29%, from $217 to $155.

The deal is running during Amazon Prime Day, which begins on July 8 and runs through July 11. The summer deals event is twice as long this year, so you've got twice the time to shop.

The Kindle Paperwhite, compared to the base model Kindle which is $50 cheaper, packs double the battery life into its device, amounting to 12 weeks of battery. That's three whole months of no charging. The e-reader also offers 16GB of storage for thousands of books and titles.

The bundle is a great deal, since a Kindle Paperwhite on its own costs $160, and this bundle costs $155. Given that tomorrow is Prime Day, we might see the price of the individual Paperwhite (unbundled) go down by 15 or 20%, but right now this Paperwhite Essentials Bundle is a great deal.

You can choose between three different colored fabric covers, including colorways in black, jade, and raspberry. The same colorways are available for your desired Paperwhite device.

When I tested the base model Kindle, I found myself downloading more e-books from my public library. My Kindle also enabled me to read a wider variety of novels because of how easy it was to rent them through Libby and read a diverse array of them while I sat on the subway. I can attest that owning a Kindle helps you read more, and I would recommend it to any budding or fully blossomed bookworm.

ZDNET's Maria Diaz, who tested the Kindle Paperwhite earlier this year, said she'd recommend the Kindle Paperwhite to anyone upgrading from a three-year or older Kindle. "I typically use my Kindles for six years, but I could see the latest Kindle Paperwhite lasting eight years or longer, making the purchase even more worthwhile," she writes in her review

How I rated this deal

I rate this deal a 4/5 because the discount is 29% off the Kindle Paperwhite Essentials bundle's original price, and Kindle e-readers don't go on sale terribly often. For someone looking to protect their new Kindle Paperwhite with a cover and charge it with an adapter, this is a good deal to jump on.

While many sales events feature deals for a specific length of time, deals are on a limited-time basis, making them subject to expire anytime.
