iPadOS 26 is a huge update for iPad users, with the biggest productivity changes ever introduced on the platform. While its new windowing system should be great for existing iPads, it also looks like a perfect fit for the larger iPad model Apple has on the way.

‘iPad Fold’ with 18.8-inch screen will pair perfectly with iPadOS 26’s upgrades

Apple launched the first iPad Pro in 2015 with what then seemed like a giant 12.9-inch display. But ever since then, the largest iPad has stayed capped at 13 inches.

Contrast this with the Mac, where you can get laptops up to 16 inches and desktops even larger.

Some users have been asking for a larger iPad for years, but now iPadOS 26 offers the best reason yet for that product to exist.

Fortunately, rumors indicate a larger iPad is indeed coming.

Apple is working on a new, foldable iPad model with a massive 18.8-inch display.

One noted analyst believes it will arrive in 2026 alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone. Others predict 2028 as the launch date.

Whenever it arrives, this new ‘iPad Fold’ could prove the perfect device for Apple’s new windowing system.

With iPadOS 26, every app can be freely resized in a Mac-like fashion.

But on the current iPad display sizes, it’s easy to run out of screen space before hitting a limit on how many apps your iPad can run.

Hence, the tremendous appeal of an 18.8-inch foldable iPad.

Being able to work with that much space will make it easier than ever to throw a ton of apps on-screen without them having to overlap and obscure content.

It’s a system that, though supported even on the tiny iPad mini, seems begging for a larger iPad.

Here’s hoping that iPad truly is coming next year. 2028 seems far too long to wait.
