macOS 26 beta 2

Following the typical two-week gap after the release of the inaugural betas, Apple has just pushed out the second wave of post-WWDC betas, including macOS Tahoe 26 beta 2.

The build number for today’s macOS Tahoe 26 beta 2 release is 25A5295e.

As announced at WWDC25, macOS Tahoe 26 introduces the Liquid Glass UI overhaul, alongside features like Live Activities on the Mac, a much improved Spotlight with clipboard history and Shortcuts integration, plus a dedicated Phone app and Live Translation for Messages, FaceTime and phone calls.

The system is also getting the new Games app, as well as the long-awaited Journal app.

Here’s how to install the macOS Tahoe 26 developer beta 1:

  1. Backup your Mac
  2. Open System Settings
  3. Go to General ⇾ Software Update
  4. Click the ‘i’ icon next to Beta Updates
  5. From the dropdown menu in the top-right, select the macOS Developer Tahoe Beta
  6. Hit ‘Done’

Any sign of the public beta?

As Apple said during the WWDC25 keynote, public betas are expected to drop next month. The company usually waits a few weeks and developer beta releases to iron out performance issues and other potentially serious bugs. Public betas typically arrive alongside developer beta 3 or 4.

As for developer beta 2, Apple hasn’t detailed what, if any, new features or changes made their way into the system beyond the usual under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes. But we’re already digging in to see what’s changed and will keep you posted, so be sure to check back soon.

As always, if you spot any changes in today’s macOS Tahoe 26 beta 2, let us know in the comments.
