Although Microsoft Teams is one of the most popular collaboration tools, users have mixed opinions about it, largely due to its inconsistent performance. Microsoft attempted to address those performance issues in the new version of Teams a couple of years ago, but users still complain that it doesn't offer the same level of performance as many of its rivals.

Performance isn't the only issue in the new version of Teams. Microsoft faced huge backlash when it removed certain classic Teams features in the new client, and perhaps one of the most shocking omissions was the ability to save messages. Since Microsoft forced the new Teams onto everyone, this was a significant downgrade for those who previously relied on the feature. If you're one of those users, the wait will soon be over, as Microsoft has finally decided to reintroduce the feature to Teams.
Microsoft will bring back the save message feature in Teams
Microsoft has once again updated its Roadmap website with the announcements of several upcoming new features for Teams and other Microsoft 365 products. Of all those updates, one of the most exciting is the addition of the ability to save messages (Feature ID: 496369), considering the high demand for its return to Teams on Microsoft's Feedback portal website.

If you use Microsoft Teams, you can use third-party apps that will let you save messages to access later. However, Microsoft's idea is to save users the effort of learning about those third-party apps by introducing the feature natively into the Teams app. When available, Teams users will be able to save a post, a reply, or a chat message and find them in the Saved view in the Chat or Teams list. In addition, you'll also be able to open a full conversation in the right pane by clicking on the saved message, review, and then reply if needed.
Microsoft is planning to introduce this feature to all Teams clients in August this year, including Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows. The Redmond tech firm hasn't specified the date, as is the case with all the feature announcements on the Roadmap website, but it's also worth noting that the August launch timeline is subject to change. So, if things don't go as planned, Microsoft will likely delay its release.
Whatever the case may be, Microsoft announces new features for Teams users every month. For example, the much-awaited multiple emoji reactions are expected to be available as a preview for Teams users this month. Teams users can also expect an on-screen Countdown Timer and the ability to change the size of notifications on desktops next month. Again, these launch timelines are tentative, so don't be surprised if you don't see them arriving in the said months.
