When on the hunt for new parts to upgrade my rig, I'm often comparing chips between AMD and Intel to see which would provide the best bang for my buck. Prime Day is a great time to purchase PC hardware, and AMD's AM4 and AM5 processors are on sale ahead of the big sales event. You can save up to 58% on a new AMD CPU with one of these promotions, and I'm not talking just the Ryzen 5 range, too, as the impressive 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9950X is discounted to just $434!

More ADM CPUs on sale for Prime Day

The star of this affordable show is the AMD Ryzen 5 5500 at $66, rocking 6 physical cores and 12 threads. Although it uses the older AM4 platform, this is still current with the company launching newer chips this year, namely the AMD Ryzen 5 5500X3D, a budget-friendly gaming CPU with plenty of cache for playing the latest and most demanding PC games.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
I'm a huge fan of the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X. It's the same CPU that's inside my primary system and continues to power through software and games without breaking much of a sweat. With the right cooling, you'll break into new grounds previously undiscovered with prior CPUs. This thing is on a completely different level, especially at this price, with 33% discounted from the MSRP. It may not be the cheapest chip in the biz, but it's among the best.

Need 16 cores and 32 threads? How does all that sound for $434? That's what is on offer with this enticing early Prime Day deal.
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
What has 8 cores, a maximum boost speed of 5.4 GHz, and support for DDR5 RAM? The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, of course! This AM5 processor is based on the now older Zen 4 architecture, but it's still quite the potent CPU that can be used with AMD's latest motherboard chipsets. The Ryzen 7 7700X strikes a good balance between price and performance and is a good choice if you don't need the power of an AMD Ryzen 9 series CPU.

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
With 12 cores, there's almost nothing to dislike about the Ryzen 9 7900X. The 12 threads can boost up to 5.6 GHz, there's plenty of cache to work with, and you don't need a discrete GPU to get a system up and running thanks to the integrated AMD Radeon Graphics controller — I'd still recommend one for gaming, however. It's fast, powerful, and for a limited time only, more affordable.
