Summary

  • CPU-Z update adds support for new GPUs like RTX 5060 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT.
  • Improved support for newer CPUs such as AMD Ryzen 9 8945HX and Ryzen 7 8840HX.
  • No major feature additions in CPU-Z 2.16, but many hardware profile additions for current releases.

While you may not instinctively think about using an app with "CPU" in its name to check out how your GPU is faring, CPU-Z does have its own "Graphics" tab where you can get a quick rundown on your card's specs. For a little while, CPU-Z didn't officially support some of the latest GPUs that hit the market; if you owned one of them, you were just out of luck.

Well, that has now fortunately changed, as CPU-Z's newest update has added support for a ton of newer GPUs. It even adds better support for some previously added CPUs, so if you've noticed something strange going on with your readings, this update may improve them.

As per the CPU-Z version history, you can now grab version 2.16 of the popular hardware information app. There doesn't seem to be any big feature additions with this update, but there are a lot of hardware profile additions that bring the app up to speed with current releases.

Alongside some CPU additions and "improved support" for AMD Ryzen AI chips, there are also some GPU entries in the list. This includes the Radeon RX 9060 XT for the AMD size, and the RTX 5060 Ti, 5060, and 5050 for Nvidia's range. This should now mean that CPU-Z can handle any of the GPUs that came out this year.

Here is the full list of all of the CPUs and GPUs that got added or tweaked this update:

  • AMD Ryzen Z2 and Z2 Extreme (Strix Point).
  • AMD Ryzen 9 8945HX, 8940HX, Ryzen 7 8840HX, 8745HX (Dragon Range refresh).
  • Improved support of AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 and Ryzen AI 5 340 (Kraken Point).
  • Zhaoxin KaiXian KX-U6780A and KX-U6580 (LuJiaZui, 8 cores).
  • AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT (Navi 44).
  • NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti (GB206), RTX 5060 (GB206), RTX 5050 (GB207)

While it's nice to see that the RTX 5050 now has CPU-Z support, people here at XDA haven't been too pleased with the card. About a week ago, Jacob Roach called the RTX 5050 "a disaster just waiting to happen," while Ty Sherback recently called the cheapest RTX 50 GPU "a waste of everybody's time." Here's hoping Nvidia manages to knock it out of the park with better GPUs in the future, else it may find that its customer's patience has long since worn thin.
