This is what I'm buying from the Steam Summer Sale

1 week ago 1

Every summer season, PC gamers rejoice as they take advantage of a number of great discounts with the Steam Summer Sale. Multiple games across the entire Steam store end up being put on sale, with some pretty heavy discounts compared to other times of the year. For those gamers who missed out on picking up certain games because of so many releases coming out at the same time, this is the perfect time to grab anything at a super-discounted price. At the same time, it's also a great opportunity to find other games that one is curious about, but doesn't want to spend full price on them.

I'm someone who won't ignore a deal for a game that I know is incredibly good for me. Whenever Steam summer sales happen, I'm always buying at least a few titles for my Steam library. Luckily for me, there are plenty of good ones for games I know I will play. Even if I might already own them on another platform, I don't mind diving into them again on PC. Some deals are just too good to let them pass by. Here is what I'm buying from the Steam Summer Sale in 2025 that I can recommend you check out as well.

5 RoboCop: Rogue City

Fan service at a great deal

Anybody that grew up watching sci-fi and action movies knows, and probably loves, the RoboCop films. Much to the surprise of everyone, RoboCop: Rogue City takes some of the best aspects of those first few movies and tells a new story, set in the same grim universe we know, within a first-person shooter game. RoboCop: Rogue City puts us in the steel boost of RoboCop as he solves a case involving the city of Detroit, the police department, and new machine prototypes that will possibly replace him. Everything from the writing, the appearance of key RoboCop 1 and RoboCop 2 characters, and the unfiltered action is exactly what fans of the series love to see.

Some people were lucky enough to grab the game when it was available as part of the monthly PlayStation Plus releases for subscribers. But if you missed it, or do not own a PlayStation 5, then RoboCop: Rogue City is at its cheapest price yet during the Steam Summer Sale. You can't go wrong with a fairly new game priced low at $4.99 during the sale, which is a heck of a good deal. The game has its few quirks throughout, but its RoboCop game with a budget behind it that has reverence for the films and the universe it's based on. The shooting is spot on for the character of RoboCop, and the level of detail in the environments and effects can rival those of other recent AAA game releases. Believe whatever you want about the RoboCop series, but many people would definitely buy that for a dollar, if not a few extra ones.

4 EA's Star Wars Battlefront 2

We've discounted a command post

Star Wars might be in a weird space as of late, but EA's Star Wars Battlefront 2 is having a big resurgence across all platforms. The once heavily scrutinized game at launch has really garnered a large and very loyal player base that continues to support the game heavily to this day. Not only are people actively playing the game all the time, but a variety of modes and community patches have kept things feeling fresh after support from Electronic Arts stopped long ago. With a surge of players coming together from a social media campaign, mostly by people who want to see Star Wars Battlefront 3 get made eventually, now is the best time to dive into the online multiplayer for Star Wars Battlefront 2 if you want to see the game at its absolute peak.

Concurrent player records for Battlefront 2 have been getting broken a lot recently because of the trend of people looking to play the game. This might get pushed even further through the help of the Steam Summer Sale, which priced the game at a lot $3.99 for everyone. This is the lowest that Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been throughout most of the game's history. It's a great deal that no Star Wars fan can ignore, especially if they have a good PC to run it via Steam. Do yourself a favor, pick up the game through the summer sales and get out there on the battlefront with everyone else. And don't forget to watch those wrist rockets!

3 Legacy of Kain Defiance

Epic dark story at a triumphant price

Some of the best dark storytelling and voice acting comes from the Legacy of Kain series. Originally started back in 1996 with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain by Silicon Knights, the series grew in popularity over the years with sequels that built out the world of Nosgoth. At the center of it was the vampire Kain, and eventually another protagonist named Raziel, both of whom captivated audiences with their epic narrations and almost Shakespearean line delivery. The series culminated in a game that tied everything about the world together, The Legacy of Kain Defiance. This was the final game of the series that let players control both Kain and Raziel at various points, while also continuing the epic story that the gaming world became fascinated by. It was dark, had a lot of action, appeared gruesome at times, and felt like the weight of the world was behind every line spoken by the characters.

Picture all of that greatness together, and then imagine buying it for the price of less than $1 on sale. Doesn't that sound amazing? For anyone that has yet to play The Legacy of Kain Defiance, this is the most opportune time to pick it up on PC. It's super cheap, despite being an older game that has been around for a long time. But the amount of value behind everything, and the experience that players go through following the final chapter of this story, is more than worth it. At the same time, other Legacy of Kain games are discounted during the Steam Summer Sale, so it might be worth exploring the world of The Legacy of Kain if you have the time. The value one would say is unmatched.

A combination of indie games on Steam

2 Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

A few credits for the best Jedi game now

Other major Star Wars game releases are getting discounted for the Steam Summer Sale. Arguably the best new Star Wars game out now is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game continues the story of Jeid Knight Cal Kestis, who survived the execution of Order 66 when the Empire first gained power. Following his exploits against Darth Vader's Inquisitors, Cal visits new planets and reunites with his comrades from his ship, The Mantis. What follows is a story that pushes Cal to the brink of what a Jedi can endure, and what he can survive through in a galaxy where the Empire is at the peak of their power. Much like its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has players taking on many foes from throughout the Star Wars galaxy with Souls-inspired combat that will be challenging.

Luckily for Steam players, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is heavily discounted during the summer sale, priced at $13.99 from its original listing. It's definitely worth the pickup if you have never played Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or haven't had a refresh on it in a long time. But what's more is that the PC version of the game has a big community of people who provide great mods, a lot of which implement various Star Wars characters from throughout the series into it. Imagine Cal Kestis having the appearance of Darth Revan from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, or taking control of Ahsoka Tano with her twin-blade lightsabers. It makes diving back into this Jedi adventure once again a lot of fun.

1 DOOM Eternal

Raise hell on demons for cheap

Every PC made for gaming needs to have a DOOM game played on it. And if you missed it the first time around, didn't pick up the latest release, or just got a brand-new PC to play games, this is the best deal for you. DOOM Eternal is the second entry in the reboot series of DOOM, taking the Slayer to new heights in his war against the demonic forces of Hell. Unlike the first game, the Slayer traverses larger areas and giant structures within each stage, fighting legions of demons that stand in his way. If you thought the first game was gory and brutal, DOOM Eternal takes things even further with its creative weapons and style of taking out enemies. Paired with an amazing soundtrack and gorgeous visuals, this is a game that was made for PCs to play.

DOOM Eternal is discounted at $9.99 for the Steam Summer Sale, making it the best time to grab it now. While home consoles for the game looked and played great, there's nothing like seeing a DOOM game run at full ultra settings while destroying groups of demons filling up the screen. It's a fantastic-looking game that also feels amazing to play with its solid controls and variety of weapons to utilize. Anytime is a great time to play DOOM, whether you were there before or missed out and just getting into the series now. DOOM Eternal is an awesome experience for any Steam player. Get it now if you haven't already, and start raising Hell on Earth.

Gamers love sales

Summer really is the most wonderful time of the year, even if that's specifically for PC gamers. The Steam Summer Sale has a ton of great options for valuable games at a discounted price that anyone would benefit from taking advantage of. Some of the best games around end up being at some of the lowest prices they've had since first being released. While the backlog of games for everyone may get exponentially larger because of it, you can't help but love seeing so many great deals for new and older games in one spot.
