Apple held its WWDC25 keynote yesterday, where it announced a new suite of software updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS – all under the new version numbering umbrella of ’26’. A new suite of OS releases comes with a new version of Xcode
In the first beta of Xcode 26, the developer tool used to build apps for these new operating systems, Apple seemingly let an interesting Vision Pro detail slip – a potential new name.
In Xcode 26, the current generation of Apple Vision Pro is now referred to as “Apple Vision Pro 4K.” This only shows up when using a new simulator with visionOS 26 on it, and existing simulators for visionOS 2 do not reflect this new name.

It’s possible that this is an indication that cheaper versions of Apple Vision Pro will have lower resolutions, and the names will reflect that. The inverse is also possible, and higher end versions of Apple Vision Pro with higher resolutions may be on the horizon.
Either way, this is an interesting naming slip. Time will tell if this is actually anything meaningful.
