Apple TV+ has been on a hot streak for a while now, with 2025 so far being its best year ever. And there are plenty more likely hits on the way. Here’s what’s coming.
Apple TV+ has found critical and commercial success like never before

No matter how you measure it, 2025 has been an especially good year for Apple TV+.
Critically, the streamer has achieved a higher quality bar with its new and returning shows this year. It still has the occasional misfire, but those have more rare than ever.
Rotten Tomatoes scores have flaws, but they do provide a good measure of the quality Apple has achieved.
Here are some of the top Apple TV+ shows this year:
- Murderbot: 97%
- Severance S2: 95%
- Mythic Quest S4: 95%
- Carême: 95%
- The Studio: 93%
- Dope Thief: 87%
- Stick: 80%
- Your Friends & Neighbors: 78%

Apple also premiered several solid shows in the 70% range, like Smoke, Government Cheese, and the return of The Buccaneers.
This artistic success has been rewarded by more Apple TV+ subscribers than ever before.
To be fair, that claim isn’t officially verifiable since Apple doesn’t release subscriber numbers.
But looking at numbers from third-party analytics firms, and anecdotal social buzz related to Apple TV+, it’s clear that the streamer is now more mainstream than ever.
And Apple’s success looks very likely to continue through the rest of the year thanks to the lineup that’s ahead.
What’s coming next to Apple TV+

It’s only July, so there are plenty of TV shows and movies coming to Apple TV+ that haven’t yet been announced.
Apple often saves premiere details for TV+ debuts until a month or two beforehand.
But just going off what’s already been announced, Apple TV+ looks set to continue its success throughout the rest of the year.
Next week, the big-budget sci-fi epic Foundation returns. So far, reviews for the third season have been especially strong. It’s getting called one of the best shows of the year, and Apple’s own Game of Thrones-style series.

Over the next month or so, three more high-profile series are returning with new seasons:
- Platonic, starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne
- Invasion, another sci-fi tentpole
- Acapulco, the feel-good comedy
But some of the most highly anticipated Apple TV+ debuts will arrive in the fall.
Three of the biggest include:

F1 The Movie is expected to hit Apple TV+ in mid-to-late fall following what looks like a very successful theatrical run.
As Apple’s first real theatrical hit, F1 will no doubt create a wave of new TV+ subscribers when it premieres.
Slow Horses is one of the most beloved, critically acclaimed Apple series—and has been throughout four seasons.
With season 5 hitting this fall, a larger subscriber base will get to be introduced to Jackson Lamb and crew.
Finally, The Morning Show will be back in September with an even more star-studded cast than usual, and tackle topics like AI, deepfakes, and more.
Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jon Hamm, and Billy Crudup are all back. They’ll be joined by Oscar-winners Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons, plus the rest of the strong supporting cast from previous seasons.

There’s plenty more coming too: Denzel Washington’s crime thriller Highest 2 Lowest, Matthew McConaughey film The Lost Bus, and Jason Momoa’s new Chief of War series.
And again, these are just the shows and movies Apple has already announced.
Apple TV+ in 2025: wrap-up
Apple TV+ has existed for five years, and there’s no doubt 2025 has been the year the streamer hit its stride.
With such a strong first half of the year completed, and a stacked slate of premieres still ahead, it seems almost a certainty that Apple will be able to keep its current momentum going.
